Back to work and Back to blogging

Firstly, an apology: I can't do a proper 'work' update atm, but there may be news imminently. Sorry. I also got Red Dwarf DVD's for Christmas and it's affected my descriptions ever-so-slightly.

Having now caught up with blogs and the Forum, my boss and my workload, there's lots of talk about resolutions. I have rarely made one, and usually I give them up for lent. In fact I think the last one was about 15 years ago and was about not hitting my brother (needless to say that that didn't make it anywhere near Easter!)

So I just thought I'd say that I'm not making any this year either. Well, I am, but I'm not. Let me explain...

The other phrase I have heard quite a lot today is:

"Hello Winston/George/Marjorie, Happy New Year!"
"Happy New Year to you too, though it looks the same as last year"

(or words to that effect)

Does it now? Has the world not changed since Saturday? Now that it's 2006 is it not completely different already? 2005 is sooo last year!

Well, OK, so it's not that different, and Why is that?
*mumbles* "because we haven't changed it yet"
"Pardon, I didn't hear you..."
*roars like a bungy jumping lion* "BECAUSE WE HAVEN'T CHANGED IT YET!"

Therein lies my conundrum this morning, hitting me round the face like a kipper in a boxing tournament. 2006 will be just like 2005 if we all do exactly the same things. So what am I going to do about it?

Me? I'm going to accept a job offer which will change my/our lives. I'm going to take a risk. I'm not 100% sure, but I'm going to do it anyway. I sure enough that God's got it covered and so I'm off.

This year, I resolve to live a life on the edge. A life that's wild at Heart; God's heart. I'm up for it, my family's up for it and most of all God's up for it.

What about you?

  1. That's great news about you taking the job.

Hmm, so how will this year be different from the past 18? Erm I haven't thought that far ahead ;)

Perhaps like you I should learn to take risks ... but what could that mean?!

So what will your life on the edge consist of?

  3. Simply that I'm "stepping up to the plate"

The first big thing this entails is work, which I hope will be my next blog.
