Following the news in the EDP and on Network Norwich that The Family Life Centre and Drayton Hall Church are to merge to from Norwich Family Life Centre, I thought I'd offer my thoughts.
Firstly, I see this as a challenge to every other church in Norwich to put aside their prejudices and to encourage these churches as they move on from their respective pasts. God is moving in Norwich (again) and we need to stand together. I'm reminded of God's warning in Isaiah 7:9 (last part) "If you do not stand firm in your faith, you will not stand at all". We need to stick with God, and each other.
Secondly, I think we need to recognise that God is doing a few big, new, things, and that we can be a part of what he's up to.
Finally, I want to say that I offer my support to all who lead the church. I pray that they'll follow God and Trust that He knows best. Amen!
I agree with all your points, and they have been doing a fantastic stuff with the community around Heartsease....
ReplyDeleteBut in that lies my concern - it would appear to be moving a considerable distance away. Although I am not convinced a superchurch is what Norwich needs, I am sure they will be a great source of evangelism, gospel and truth in the new venture.
I also see it a shame that in announcing this, they have ommitted to announce the plans for Heartsease land. If something is truly embedded into the culture of the community then it should ensure the community feels involved. I don't see that.
God is God and I am sure He knows what he is doing with the community.
I to hope that the Heartsease site is used to the full.
ReplyDeleteWhat other church/es has the resources to do both sites justice though?
Only these two.
