Lakeland Revival

No, not the useful plastic gadget shop, Lakeland Florida.

I've heard rumours of what's going on over there. First at church (probably promted by God TV coverage, Brian Heasley commented on it here with some further links and now there's a report from Jill Gower on Network Norwich. Link here.
A couple of quotes from the article that I find encouraging:
"We felt too, that for people just watching the evening meetings on God TV, however good these are, it is still only part of the picture."
"It is not flaky in any way, nor is this move a kind of “bless me” one either – the whole point is to take it out onto the streets, back to where you come from and release the Kingdom of God."
It's worth a read and it leaves me thinking that the sorts of things that I would be looking for are present.
If that's so, then go God go!

  1. Dude - I live 45 minutes from where this is going on and trust me - it's completely crazy. I was raised Pentecostal, so I'm not easily weirded out but the dude kicks and punches people (for real) to "heal" them. He also feels called by God to "get people to believe in the angel" (her name's Emma) and regularly "teleports" to "the third Heaven" to hang out "with the Apostle Paul in his cabin in Heaven". Just spend some time watching clips of him on YouTube - you'll learn everything you need to know...

  2. Thanks for your comment.

Though I'm never inclined to believe YouTube too much.

    What have you seen yourself?

  3. I've watched some stuff on YouTube and found it quite upsetting and disturbing.

But stuff I've heard from people who've been via my housemate and cousin, sounds a lot more encouraging and exciting.

I think Mark T was hoping to go while he was in Florida - don't know if he made it though.

I don't really know what to think.

  4. Quite, which is why I'm happy to let it be God (if that's what it is.

At least until I know otherwise

  5. Dude - you can believe YouTube when it's straight, unedited, raw footage of Todd Bentley doing his thing. There's no camera trickery, just straight shots of the truth. If you're seriously interested in truth, you owe it to yourself to check it out and make your own informed decision on whether or not God is in in this.

  6. Actually Jeff, I have to disagree. I don't think I need to have an opinion either way.

YouTube would never provide me with a complete picture. The only way to know would to be to go there and live with them and serve with them.

According to YouTube, Hillsong is an evil, money grabing and money obsessed cult that you have to have the perfect image to be accepted in or have to try and achieve to be saved.

It all depends on what you search for I guess.

If it's so awful, how do you account for the 'accredited' healings?
